0.1.9
Open beta · 9 September 2026
In one line
Look and color are chosen separately at conversion, and materials turning white after a bake are fixed.
Check before updating
- Re-bake: restore materials you already baked to editable, then bake them again.
- Re-upload: VRChat avatars need uploading again for this fix to apply.
- If you lowered emission intensity to 0 to avoid the white, set it back to the value you want and bake again.
- Values a preset from an earlier version overwrote do not come back on their own.
New features
- Color Preset — added below the look preset. Apply the look first, then the color.
- Keep Existing Values — choosing it in the color preset keeps the colors converted from the source.
- Get Started · Look & Bake · Optimize — the Manager is split into three tabs.
- Choose what to convert in Get Started, and adjust the look of existing materials in Look & Bake.
- Set the automatic handling and the texture resolution limit in Optimize.
- When there is nothing left to convert, you can reapply the chosen look and color to existing MingToon materials.
- Development diagnostics were hidden from the product menu. The project validation menu is unchanged.
Changed defaults and look changes
- The color preset defaults to
Neutral. It replaces the old shadow-color overwrite checkbox. - Shadow band settings brought over from the source at conversion are no longer overwritten by the look preset.
- If the source's 2nd shadow has an alpha of 0, the 2nd band is not turned on.
- A resolution limit is applied to merged textures and normals.
No limitkeeps the size. - The import settings of source textures are not changed to enforce the resolution limit.
- Generated masks are saved losslessly so channel values are preserved.
Fixed
- Fixed: materials turned white after a bake. The cause was emission being switched on after it had been turned off.
- Fixed: the on/off state of emission and the second layer changed during the bake.
- Fixed: the effect was applied even to materials with Glitter turned off.
- Fixed: the Glitter mask stopped working after a manual bake.
- Fixed: matcap color or emission disappeared as the camera moved away.
- Fixed: a temporary bake shader was left on editable materials after a VRChat SDK build.
- Fixed: on an alpha mask material with an empty main texture, the cutout edge changed after the bake.
- Fixed: a preset's off values overwrote modules that were in use.
- Fixed: a lilToon conversion issue where the second shadow remained even with shadow intensity at 0.
- Fixed: one material failing to convert stopped the rest as well.
- Fixed: in projects with no
Assets/StudioRamingfolder, the mask output folder could not be created. - Fixed: the depth display disappeared in the Scene view.
Known limitations
- Not every lilToon look matches pixel for pixel. Check how it actually looks after converting.
- How much size is saved and how long it takes vary by environment, so no figures are given yet.
- Ming Light Controller is a separate package. Update it to 0.1.2 alongside this.
- MLC's VRCFury compression interop and post-compression preview were pushed to the next version.
